FFA Week brings tractors, roping, animals and more to HHS

Farm chores, animal care and cow skills took on a fun — and sometimes competitive — twist during this year’s FFA Week, Feb. 21-24, at HHS.
Celebrating everything agricultural, the four-day week kicked off with Drive Your Tractor to School Day Tuesday, Feb. 21, bringing some unusual modes of transportation to the HHS parking lot.
Wednesday was Teacher Appreciation Day, as FFA members prepared and served a pancake breakfast for teachers before the start of school.
The entire school had the chance to compete in the Ag Olympics Thursday, Feb. 23, as classes competitively stacked hay, assembled corral panels, pounded nails, lassoed a roping dummy and more.
Friday, elementary students visited throughout the day to learn about the animals taken to school by FFA members for Barnyard Day.
The week wrapped up with the outcome of the Kiss-a-Pig competition at the end of the school day. Band director Chris Lampkin earned the honor of kissing a potbellied pig right on the snout by having more money in his designated jar than any other staff member.
