Sedgwick County FFA helps prep for Marquardt auction

It was a wet and dreary day, but the tractors still needed to be washed and polished. Thanks to the efforts of the Sedgwick County FFA clubs from Julesburg and Revere, the job was accomplished.

Thirteen antique tractors and many attachments were donated to the Fort Sedgwick Historical Society by the estate of a longtime member and local landowner/farmer, the late Delbert Marquardt. Delbert and his wife Donna wanted to be sure FSHS would have funding to continue to operate three museums in Julesburg.

This was a great opportunity for FFA members to be an important part of a project that directly benefits their community. The tractors will be auctioned off by BigIron Auctions, with a selling date of July 5. The proceeds will enable Fort Sedgwick Historical Society to continue to share history and educate visitors about the rich history of the plains of Nebraska and Colorado.

In addition to FFA members from both schools in Sedgwick County, FSHS board members Gregg Bell, Craig Nicolaus, Valerie Price and Betsy Marquardt also pitched in. Eric Knipp and Randy Dillenburg were instrumental in moving the tractors outside where potential bidders will be able to see them up close. All profits from the sale of the Marquardt tractors will go to the Fort Sedgwick Historical Society.
