Memorial Day program set for Monday

Memorial Day in Holyoke will be commemorated at 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 29, at the pavilion in the cemetery. Lt. Col. Bob Russell will be the guest speaker. Mike Brown will give the religious message, and Emmy and Elly Brown will provide music. A flag retirement ceremony will take place Monday at 2 p.m. at the Vets Hall parking lot. If anyone has any flags to retire, they can be dropped off at the Vets Hall.

Volunteers who would like to place/remove flags on/from veterans’ graves at Holyoke Cemetery should meet at the entrance Friday, May 26, at 5 p.m. and Monday, May 29, at 5 p.m. 

 

Conner to speak at Venango Cemetery

Venango American Legion Post 270 will host a Memorial Day program at the Venango Cemetery on Monday, May 29, at 10:30 a.m. The keynote speaker will be Chief Warrant Officer 3 Dennis Conner. He is a veteran of both the Iraq and Afghanistan conflicts and is the recipient of numerous Bronze Star medals for his actions against hostile forces. 

HHS student Leah Struckmeyer will present her Voice of Democracy essay, and various musical selections will be performed by Heather From.

A freewill luncheon will be held at the Venango Legion Hall following the program.

 

Enterprise sets early deadline

Due to the Memorial Day holiday, the deadline for the Enterprise’s May 31 edition has been bumped up to Friday, May 26, at noon for news, classifieds, legals and display ads. The newspaper office will be closed Monday, May 29.

 

Hospital planning Senior Day next week

MMH is hosting a free Senior Day on Wednesday, May 31, at Homesteaders Park at the fairgrounds. The day includes activities with Joel (horseshoes, frisbee, etc.) from 10 a.m.-noon, lunch at noon, and activities from 1-2:30 p.m. All seniors age 55 and up are welcome.
