Watch for counterfeit $50 bills in Holyoke

    Holyoke Police Department urges area businesses and individuals to use caution when accepting $50 bills because a counterfeit $50 bill was circulated in Holyoke last week.
    The bill appeared to have been printed on a washed U.S. bill, but it is unknown which type of bill it was printed on.
    The facial watermark on the right side of the bill was smaller than it should be. The security strip was farther to the right than normal and was blurred. The silver star and gold “50” on the bottom right side of the bill were sparkling. When a UV light was used, the security bar (line in the bill) did not show.
