Kwei Leong, RPh, is now on staff at MMH Hometown Pharmacy, where he is scheduled to step fully into his role as a replacement for Amy Kleve, RPh, Pharm D, when she goes on maternity leave in the coming weeks.
He described his philosophy of care in simple terms — taking responsibility for his clients’ medication needs and helping them live their lives as fully as possible.
“I just enjoy helping people and taking care of them,” Leong said.
Leong received his bachelor’s degree in pharmacy from the University of New Mexico’s College of Pharmacy in 1978. He has experience in multiple pharmacy settings, including retail, mail-order and long-term care.
Most recently, Leong helped start a long-term care pharmacy in Loveland. He will be living in Holyoke during the week and on the weekends commute back to his home in Aurora.
Leong was raised in the San Francisco Bay area and has experience working in both urban and rural settings. He said his decision to come to Holyoke was in part inspired by time spent living in Aztec, New Mexico, a town of about 6,000 people.
“I loved living there,” he said. “Small towns have so much character.”
