New van transports 4-H members to Colorado Leadership Conference

Last weekend, Nov. 3-5, local 4-H members traveled to the Colorado Leadership Conference in Glenwood Springs, and it was the first trip made with the council’s new van, which was purchased Oct. 27.
Phillips County members carpooled with Logan and Yuma counties. Between the three counties, 49 youth went to the conference, which was open to 4-H members in grades 6-9.
Upon arrival Friday night, the youth participated in ice-breaker games. On Saturday, youth participated in five different workshops, ranging from designing and building bridges using balsa wood to learning basic dance moves such as the two-step and the pretzel. They also heard from motivational speaker Dan McLaughlin.
