Members honored at FFA chapter banquet

    Under the guidance of adviser Shauna Strecker, the outgoing Holyoke High School FFA officer team led the chapter banquet May 14. Following a dinner in the commons area, members and their family and friends gathered in the auditorium to recognize the year’s achievements.
    Each of the 2019 graduates was recognized, and those who served as officers during their senior year gave retiring remarks. They were Corben McCallum, Brenna Sullivan, Emma Roll, Kaylee Camblin, Jillian Hunter and Alex Vieselmeyer. Other 2018-19 officers were Lauren Bergner, Tristen Roll and Janessa Lutze.
    The Dekalb Award, presented each year to a senior, was given to Vieselmeyer. Scholarships from FFA Alumni were given to Hunter and Camblin. Sullivan was recognized as this year’s outstanding officer, Tristen Roll was the outstanding junior, Ethan Andersen outstanding sophomore and Josie Schlachter star greenhand. Tuff Sigler was recognized as outstanding member, and Seth Watson was most improved member.
    New officers installed for the 2019-20 school year are president Tristen Roll, vice president Bergner, secretary Lutze, treasurer Sigler, reporter Haley Van Overbeke, sentinel Watson, and executive committee members Schlachter, Lauren Herman and Kristin Vieselmeyer.
    Chapter scholastic achievement awards were given to the top students in each grade level. Freshmen were Herman, Schlachter, Sigler, Miles Sprague and Kristin Vieselmeyer. Sophomores were Ashley Rahe and Van Overbeke. Juniors were Victoria Race and Tristen Roll. Seniors were Camblin and Kyra Loutensock.
