Juniors steer their steers at Angus show

Austin Vieselmeyer tugs on the lead of his winning animal during the Colorado Junior Angus Association’s Golden Trend Show last Sunday, June 2. About a dozen youths participated in the show. Vieselmeyer won the senior showmanship division, and his brother, Alex, was recognized for having the supreme champion animal, which Austin also showed. The event drew association members from across the state for two days of contests, classes and cattle showing. On Saturday, Bobby Strecker of American Breeders Service and Dr. Jeff Tharp of Holyoke Veterinary Service educated attendees on artificial insemination and semen analysis, and Jessica Cartrite of Purina and Northeast Feed led a session on cattle nutrition. Brent and Tina Vieselmeyer, Kathi Creamer and Lea Rohr all helped bring the show to Holyoke and the Bank of Colorado Pavilion for the first time in the event’s history.
