Hassell appointed hospital CEO

Melissa Memorial Hospital has appointed Michael Hassell as new CEO of the organization. In a Tuesday afternoon press release, the hospital’s board of directors stated Hassell would “guide the hospital in its mission to deliver quality and compassionate care to our patients.”

“I am very excited to join the talented team at Melissa Memorial Hospital and the community of Phillips County,” Hassell stated. “Great things are ahead as we work together to constantly improve access and outcomes for our patients.”

Hassell has more than 15 years’ experience in the health care field, beginning his career as a paramedic and most recently serving as president and administrator for Troy Medical Center in Troy, Alabama. Recently, he was accepted into the National Rural Health Association’s Rural Health Fellows program.

Calling the people he met in Holyoke “warm and welcoming,” Hassell stated he looks forward to starting in the new position.
