Harvest nearing completion

Area farmers are nearing the end of harvest after a dry, hot summer, which has generally caused crop yields to be lower than average.

Evan Fust, general manager of CHS Grainland, said Monday, Nov. 9, that they are about 98% done with corn harvest.

Fust said the yield is wide-ranging, but overall is below the five-year average due to the hot and dry weather in June.

He said that aside from some of the areas that were more impacted by the weather, the crop is overall of good quality.
