Extension pulls out the stops for Phillips County’s 2019 AgFest

Holyoke fifth grader Sophia Bencomo hoists a 60-pound weight using a pulley system set up by Scott Stinnett of Colorado State University Extension, who is pictured at right. The demonstration was one of 10 given by CSU Extension personnel as part of the 2019 AgFest, which was held in the Phillips County Event Center last Tuesday, May 7. The event drew 75 Colorado and Nebraska elementary school-age students for hands-on explorations of power and simple machines, beef and dairy production, beekeeping, embryology, microbes, GPS, groundwater safety and range ecology.
