Chayos Mexican Food opens
Maria Rivas, and her children Deisy and Jorge Guadarrama have started what Rivas likes to call a new “project.” The family opened Chayos Mexican Food at 430 E. Denver St. Nov. 29. Rivas noted that they are excited to share this service with the community by offering the best Mexican food.
Rivas will be integrating cooking knowledge from her grandparents, her mother and from her own experience. Family recipes of authentic Mexican food originating from Durango, Sinaloa and northern Baja California, Mexico fill the menu.
Although Rivas believes all of her recipes are delicious, her favorite dish to prepare is tacos — al pastor, carne asada and chihuahua style barbacoa. Rivas will also occasionally prepare her special recipe for Sinaloa style roast beef.
