Baby Bear Hugs promotes Baby Box University

Baby Box University, a new program available to new and expectant mothers, is being promoted by Baby Bear Hugs.
The Baby Box Company established this initiative taking inspiration from Finland’s model. Similar to the Finnish model, it’s much more than the box — it includes a critical education component to the program.
The company developed this innovative program to equip parents with education and resources to give their babies a safe start in life. Baby boxes can be used as a safe sleep space for a baby’s first five to six months of life.
Made of sturdy, durable cardboard, the baby box includes a waterproof  foam mattress and comes with a bag of infant care items and educational resource material for new parents.
New moms, expectant moms or grandparents-to-be can get a free baby box after completing a short education course on safe sleep for infants at BabyBoxUniver sity.com. After completion, a certificate is issued and can be redeemed online and the box delivered to their home or traded in at an organization who is carrying a supply of the boxes.
Phillips County coordinator Pam Gibbs said Baby Bear Hugs is working to have a supply at each office. However, at this time, they are required to commit to a large volume that is just not feasible for this region.
Baby Bear Hugs also promotes the Safe to Sleep program intended to reduce the risk of sudden infant death syndrome and other sleep-related causes of infant death. While the reasons behind infant mortality are complicated, unsafe sleep environments is one contributing factor. Baby Box University will help connect mothers with education resources to help them better care for their babies.
