110th USDA-ARS research station field day is June 14

The 110th United States Department of Agriculture-Agricultural Research Service Central Great Plains Research Station field day is Wednesday, June 14, at 8:30 a.m. The CGPRS is located 4 miles east of Akron on Highway 34.

The field day at the research station is a great way to learn about the latest Agricultural Research Service and Colorado State University dryland and irrigated cropping systems research. This year, the station’s scientists from Fort Collins and university collaborators have put together several informative presentations.

Field day topics outlined
This year, a few old tractors will be on hand for show and tell. There will be three guest speakers from the Water Management and Systems Research Unit in Fort Collins. This group is a young innovative team of scientists heavily engaged in limited irrigation monitoring and management.

Dr. Sean Gleason will give a presentation on “Corn growth and drought: The gory details of what drought does to corn ... and what can be done to avoid it.”
