|Saturday’s parade highlights ‘America’s Best’|

American flags lined main street as the Phillips County Fair parade made its way up Interocean Avenue in Holyoke, greeting a large crowd of people Saturday, July 26. A variety of floats and other parade entries showed off “America’s Best,” which was the theme of this year’s Fair.

Grainland Co-op won grand champion honors for their float that highlighted how the cooperative has grown with Phillips County throughout the years. A miniature model, built in 1952, was featured on the float to depict the Amherst elevator.
Grainland took first place in the business division, followed by PC Telcom in second and First Pioneer National Bank in third.

In the youth maxi float category, Better Beef Makers earned first, Raising Ranchers second and Paoli Hustlers third.
In the miscellaneous division, 3 Pines 2 Cat Farms won first, followed by Renee Weis. Dragon’s Wagon Preschool placed first in the civic group category.
