NASCAR stars Kenny Schrader and Kenny Wallace headlined Phillips County Raceway’s agenda Monday, July 21, to add to the week-long entertainment during the Phillips County Fair.

After doing a meet and greet at nearby Harchelroad Motors in Imperial, Neb., Monday morning, the duo came to Holyoke where they met the public at a 5 p.m. dinner at the Event Center.

Schrader and Wallace added to the modified racing entertainment in what Blood, Sweat and Tears Racing pegged as BST’s Best against NASCAR.

It was a four-day tour that started at Lamar Speedway Friday, July 18, continued to El Paso County Speedway in Calhan Saturday, on to Thomas County Speedway in Colby, Kan., Sunday and finally to PCR Monday.

NASCAR won the four-day tour, but it was a different story at PCR.

Schrader won his heat race at PCR and was leading the modified main event. However, flyin’ Ryan Gaylord of Lakewood in car No. 03 narrowed Schrader’s lead, lap by lap.

Gaylord was working on the high side. He put on a good race side by side and eventually prevailed to take the checkered flag.

Schrader told BST’s Joe Bellm that he couldn’t believe Gaylord went that fast that high.

A stock car heat race resulted in a crash on the east end of the track Monday.

Kurt Trusty was in the lead when he spun sideways and was hit by Jason Noyes. Greg Gutt then hit Noyes, pushing his car up on to the back of Trusty’s No. 10K. Ondre Rexford was also involved in the collision.

Next up for Phillips County Raceway will be races on Saturday, Aug. 9, at 7 p.m. BST late models will race in addition to stock cars, modifieds, sport mods and hobbies.
