|Agencies can apply for emergency food and shelter funds|

The Eastern Plains Region, including Kit Carson, Lincoln, Logan, Morgan, Phillips, Sedgwick, Washington and Yuma counties, has been chosen to receive $17,800 to supplement emergency food and shelter programs in these counties.
The source of funding is a federal appropriation from Congress to the Emergency Food and Shelter National Board program. The National Board selects jurisdictions (cities or counties) for funding, not specific agencies.
The federal department responsible for this program is the Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency. This national board consists of representatives from the American Red Cross; Catholic Charities, USA; National Council of Churches of Christ in the USA; the Jewish Federation of North America; the Salvation Army; and the United Way Worldwide.
