|15 qualify for national FCCLA|

Holyoke FCCLA state conference participants shined in their Students Taking Action with Recognition events at the April 3-5 convention, with 15 students qualifying to take their STAR projects to nationals in San Antonio, Texas, in July.
Four teams earned gold honors and one team bronze at the Denver Marriott Tech Center last week. In addition to competition, FCCLA members enjoyed workshops and speakers.
National qulifiers include:
—Brenda Hernandez and Alex Yanez, who earned first place gold for their chapter service project, “Recipe for Success: Fighting Hunger with an Appetite.”
—Anastasia Conklin and Dani Brandt, who placed first place gold for their interpersonal communications project, “Breaking Barriers: Teens and Elders.”
—Daniela Baeza, America Gonzalez, Austin Herman, Karla Hermosillo, Dylon Lousberg, Lori McWilliams, Logan Osborne and Brook Prottsman, the junior parliamentary procedure team that earned first place gold.
—Tito Fierro, Luke Stewart and Megan Vieselmeyer, the illustrated talk team that earned second place gold for the project, “Food for Families: Farm of the Future.”
