Phillips County Historical Society was one of four service organizations recently selected to receive a Community Support Grant from the Walmart Foundation.
The $1,000 grant was presented to Phillips County Historical Society during the Sterling Walmart Supercenter’s grand re-opening ceremony on Wednesday, July 1.
Three other groups that were presented checks during the ceremony by Walmart sales associates were City of Sterling Public Library, American Cancer Society and Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Disorders Association.
Phillips County Historical Society members said they are grateful to Walmart store manager Brett Webster and Peggy Swedlund for their help and encouragement in processing this grant. They plan to use the money to maintain and improve displays and facilities, as well as to promote programs for the museum.
Phillips County Museum is open Wednesday and Sunday afternoons until Labor Day. With various displays including dolls, antique vehicles, glassware, school memorabilia, photos and period rooms, there is something of interest for everyone.
