|Ardie Besse says, ‘No more haircuts!’|

“No more haircuts,” said Ardie Besse to Channel 9News reporter Kevin Torres as she finished her last hair appointment before retirement Friday, Jan. 24.
Ruth McMurdy, accompanied by her son, Ron, came all the way from Corpus Christi, Texas, to claim Ardie’s last appointment before she retired. McMurdy was Ardie’s first appointment when she started business in Holyoke in 1963.
Numerous community members took the opportunity to say farewell to Besse at a Friday afternoon open house. Her memorabilia display was filled with newspaper articles, calendars from her years in business and photos galore.
