|Dragons defeat Northridge|

Swimming against North-ridge and Skyline at a triangular at Skyline Tuesday, Jan. 7, the HHS girls defeated Northridge 102-54 and fell to Skyline 108-64.
Also during the day’s competition, Skyline topped Northridge 102-54.
Madison Beckner is pictured swimming the butterfly at the Holiday Spectacular in Windsor last month. This past week, she took first place in the 200-yd. individual medley and second in the 100-yd. butterfly at the triangular at Skyline Jan. 7.
Due to a time limitation at their pool, Skyline asked both Northridge and Holyoke to swim only one heat per event, which restricted each school to only two swimmers.
It resulted in an extremely fast-moving meet, and for the smaller teams, some swimmers had to swim back-to-back events without rest.
“It was inspiring to see the Holyoke swimmers accept and adapt to this concept,” said coach Adria Colver. “Some swam a long, difficult distance event, only to immediately dive into a 50 free sprint, which required a different tempo,” she explained.
Dani Brandt and Madison Beckner both grabbed a first-place finish for HHS. Brandt won the 100-yd. backstroke in 1:12.01 and Beckner won the 200-yd. invidividual medley in 2:53.10.
