|Dragons rebound from Tuesday with thrilling 1-point victory|

Holyoke boys’ basketball players picked up their first win of the season Thursday, Dec. 12 over Liberty Common to improve to 1-2 after falling to Yuma Tuesday, Dec. 10.
All three games for the Dragons this season have been decided by seven points or less, with free throws playing a major role in determining the outcome. Coming into Thursday’s match, Holyoke had seen their previous two games slip through their fingertips in the closing minutes.
HHS was able to overcome their late-game hardships Thursday night with Liberty Common, securing the lead at the charity stripe with two clutch free throws by Trevor Dalton with just seconds remaining in the match.

Holyoke 47, Yuma 54
Holyoke looked sharp to open the game Tuesday, scoring within the half-court offense and on transition. Yuma put together an eight-point run to take the lead, however. At the conclusion of the first quarter, Holyoke found themselves down 11-13.
After falling behind 11-18 in the second quarter, Tito Fierro and Ryan Parker led the Dragon offensive charge. In the final two minutes of the first half, Holyoke outscored Yuma 10-1, capping off a 16-8 quarter. With momentum on their side, HHS entered half up 27-21.
