Sullivan lighted arches lead way to contest winner PDF Print E-mail
Written by Holyoke Enterprise

Lighted archways in the curved driveway, along with animals and Santa’s sleigh pulled by reindeer, led to the tasteful lighting display at 805 S. Bowman Ave. being named the first-place winner in Holyoke’s 2013 Lighting Contest. The display certainly lights up the Jeff and Olga Sullivan home, and community members are encouraged to drive by to enjoy this display, as well as the numerous homes decorated and lit for the season in Holyoke.

The City of Holyoke and The Holyoke Enterprise sponsor the annual contest, with cash prizes awarded to the top three decorated homes in and around Holyoke within a half-mile radius, as chosen by judges. Second- and third-place winners can be found inside this edition of the Enterprise.

Part of the judging criteria establishes that homes may not win in back-to-back years in the lighting contest. There’s some consideration for establishing a new category for lawn ornaments in 2014 and to perhaps revamp the lighting contest criteria. Those who have input pertaining to this idea should contact staff at The Holyoke Enterprise at 970-854-2811.

More winners in the 2013 Holyoke Lighting Contest are pictured, below, second place, 1042 S. Baxter Ave., Chris Lehman and Angie Hofmeister; and third place, 715 E. Hale St., Delores Renteria.
