With seven active returning letterwinners set to take the court for the Dragon boys’ basketball squad, Holyoke has no shortage of experience entering the 2013-14 season.
“It’s nice having a bunch of guys who have been in the program,” coach Scott Dille said. “I don’t know if they are the oldest but they probably are the most experienced that we’ve had, particularly at the varsity level. All of those guys have been around for a while so that is nice.”
Returning letterwinners on the HHS boys’ basketball team are pictured from left, front row, Logan Tharp, Bradley Cumming, Zach Roll and Tito Fierro; and back row, Trevor Dalton, Ryan Parker, Tanner Smith and Wyatt Powell.
Practice officially began Wednesday, Nov. 13 with 31 kids hitting the gym for the season which kicks off Friday, Dec. 6 at county-rival Haxtun’s home court.
Holyoke lost four players to graduation last year, three of which had started for the Dragons at one point during the season.
Returning letterwinners who will be looked to for leadership are seniors Trevor Dalton, Ryan Parker, Zach Roll, Tanner Smith and Logan Tharp; junior Tito Fierro; and sophomore Bradley Cumming. Junior Wyatt Powell is also on the team, but suffered a shoulder injury in football that will keep him sidelined for the basketball season.
