It’s a startling fact. By the end of today, approximately 100 people in the United States will take their own lives. Two thousand more will try to do so.
What does that mean? It means that every minute of every day, someone in America is attempting suicide. And every 14 minutes, someone dies by suicide. In Colorado alone, approximately 1,053 individuals take their life each year.
It’s a subject that is shrouded in misunderstanding, fear and sometimes shame for those impacted by it. For those left behind, the survivors of suicide, it can mean unbearable grief and isolation.
