After loss in Limon, Dragons facing must-win games to make playoffs PDF Print E-mail
Written by Kyle Arnoldy

Set to battle the undefeated Limon Badgers, the Dragon football team took to the wet field in a steady rain with their sights set on getting their year back on track with a win as the end of the regular season looms.

Limon lived up to their reputation as one of the top teams in 1A, however, as they put Holyoke away 24-6 Friday, Oct. 11. HHS now possesses a 4-3 record.

The weather was a factor in the game right from the start as the first snap for the Badgers slipped through the quarterback’s hands for a fumble. Limon was able to recover the ball and proceeded to march down the field.

Facing a fourth-and-short from the Dragon 29-yardline, the Badgers attempted to keep their drive alive, but another fumble turned the ball over to HHS as Luke Stewart scooped up the ball for the Dragons.

It was a defensive dual throughout the first quarter as neither offense reached the end zone.

“Offensively we struggled running the ball because their linebackers flew to the ball so quick and we just weren’t holding our blocks long enough,” coach John Zilla said.
