|Food co-op offers fresh produce in Holyoke|
|Written by Holyoke Enterprise|
Bountiful Baskets, a food co-op which is fairly new to northeastern Colorado, is now beginning in Holyoke. The web-based, not-for-profit organization offers fresh produce, and since 2006, it has grown to 16 states.
Within about the last six months, a Bountiful Baskets site has formed in Ovid, Vernon and Sterling. Kay Harmon, site coordinator, said she participated while living in Idaho and loved the experience so much she wanted to bring it to the Holyoke community.
The co-op offers a produce basket every other Saturday, which is generally half fruit and half vegetables. The produce includes high-quality seasonal items. There is also an option for an organic basket. The items are different every week, and participants do not know in advance what will be in the basket.
