Proclamations recognizing principals and classified staff were approved at the Oct. 1 meeting of the Holyoke School District Re-1J Board of Education.
Expanding the significance of the proclamations, board members expressed specific praise for staff members who are making a difference.
After reading the resolution to declare October as National Principals Month, board member Michelle Van Overbeke said she would rather just make a statement to principals Susan Ortner and Kyle Stumpf about the fine job that they’re doing.
Other board members added words of encouragement and praise, noting that Holyoke is fortunate to have such fine educators in the school district.
Likewise, in proclaiming Oct. 20-26 as Classified School Employees Week, the board highlighted the extra care given by maintenance, transportation, custodial, aide and secretarial staff members.
