Lady Dragons fall in 3 in Yuma PDF Print E-mail
Written by Kyle Arnoldy

HHS volleyball dropped to 6-7 on the season with a loss to Yuma Friday, Oct. 4.

Holyoke fell victim to their own slow start as Yuma quickly established a sizable lead in the first game. Coach Michelle Vieselmeyer said she is at a loss for how to overcome the slow starts that have plagued the Lady Dragons this season.

“It’s like we’re not ready to play,” coach Vieselmeyer said. “Their motors don’t really get going until halfway through the first game.”

Vieselmeyer also noted that the girls need to be more aggressive. In the first set, HHS only attempted two kills as they fell 9-25.

The two squads were neck and neck through the first half of the second set. After Holyoke pulled ahead for a 7-3 lead, the Lady Indians fought back to regain the lead at 10-9 and would not trail again in the set as they topped Holyoke 25-20. Although they lost, Holyoke was much more competitive and aggressive in the set, going on the attack 11 times.
