Dragons fall for first time in back-and-forth game with Resurrection PDF Print E-mail
Written by Kyle Arnoldy

Holyoke’s four-game winning streak came to an end Friday night, Sept. 27 in Loveland as Resurrection Christian routed the Dragons 34-29. With the loss, HHS is now 4-1.

While HHS has produced a much more efficient offense this season, nearly doubling Resurrection’s points per game and averaging close to 140 more yards per night, Resurrection was able to put the Dragons away by implementing a number of trick plays to catch Holyoke off guard.

After trading empty possessions in which neither team produced a scoring drive in the opening quarter, Resurrection successfully booted a 25-yard field goal to give the Cougars a 3-0 lead in the second quarter. The score opened the offensive floodgates as high-scoring action ensued with the two teams trading scores.

HHS quarterback Trevor Dalton connected with Bradley Cumming for a 52-yard touchdown reception to take a 7-3 lead after Jorge Varela added the PAT. The lead would not last long as the Cougars scored on a 20-yard pass play as time expired in the half for a 9-7 lead at intermission.
