|State of Colorado, Red Cross announce preparedness movement|

Colorado Lt. Gov. Joe Garcia joined regional leaders from the American Red Cross and the Colorado Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Management earlier this month in announcing a statewide “Prepare Colorado” movement intended to save lives, reduce suffering in the face of emergencies and improve Colorado’s communities’ ability to bounce back from disasters.
The goal of Prepare Colorado is to make Colorado a national leader in whole-community preparedness.
During the news conference on the steps of the State Capitol in Denver Sept. 6, the Red Cross and its partners at the State of Colorado called on all sectors of the community—public, private and nonprofit—to commit to taking specific actions to increase the preparedness and disaster resiliency of individuals, households, schools, businesses, organizations and governmental agencies in Colorado.
