Holyoke High School’s football team continued its early-season domination, improving to 2-0 by rolling St. Francis, Kan. 28-8 on the road.
The Dragons captured the momentum early on in the Sept. 6 game as Marques Harvey laid into the St. Francis return man on the opening kickoff, forcing a fumble. Saul Ramos jumped on the ball and HHS positioned themselves to gain an early lead with a short field in front of them, starting inside of the Indian 40-yard line.
Dylan Kotch powered into the end zone from three yards out for the first score of the game. An incomplete pass on the 2-point conversion gave the Dragons a 6-0 early lead.
After forcing St. Francis into a punting situation, the Dragons wasted little time before lighting up the scoreboard again. On the third play of their second offensive drive, quarterback Trevor Dalton dropped back to pass and connected with Logan Tharp for a 58-yard touchdown with about three minutes remaining in the first quarter. The Dragons held an early 12-0 lead after a missed PAT.
