Softball sees improvement, goes 1-4 PDF Print E-mail

While the game results don’t reflect it, coach Ashley Clayton said the Dragon softball team made huge improvements in two days.

The local team competed in the Sept. 6-7 tournament in Burlington, finishing with a 1-4 record. Friday found the Dragons losing three: to Burlington 1-11, to Rocky Ford 2-12 and to Brush 8-19.

Saturday action started with a big win when the girls defeated Limon 16-1. Later that day, they lost to Burlington 5-15.

Clayton said that many players stepped up in different roles as the tournament began. As the games progressed, they embraced these roles and improved with every play.

“The girls are beginning to understand how important communication and mental focus are to their success as an individual player and as a team,” added Clayton.

Next up for the Lady Dragons is a doubleheader at Wray Saturday, Sept. 14, beginning at 10 a.m.
