|Malaria deaths cut in half by Methodist global effort|

Every 60 seconds, malaria claims a life in Africa, and the local First United Methodist Church is putting their faith into action to help eradicate the disease worldwide.
Imagine No Malaria is an extraordinary effort of the people of the global United Methodist Church to end these preventable deaths.
Holyoke’s church has pledged to raise $5,000 by April 25, 2014, World Malaria Day. Their conference of 250 churches is aiming for $4 million, while the global network of churches set a goal of $70 million, reported local pastor Al Strauss.
Imagine No Malaria is a program that has built on the success of Nothing But Nets, a campaign founded by the United Nations Foundation in 2006. As a founding member, the United Methodist Church helped raise money to provide insecticide-treated bed nets to Africa.
