This year the High Plains Heritage Quilters are hosting the Corn Festival Quilt Show at two different times at the Haxtun Community Center.
On Friday evening, Sept. 27, from 7-9 p.m., the free show will open with both the quilt show, voting and bed turning. On Saturday, Sept. 28, the quilt show will reopen and the people’s choice voting will continue following the parade (at about 11 a.m.) and the bed turning. “Telling the Quilts’ Stories” will resume at 1:30 p.m. and at each hour following until the show closes at 4:30 p.m.
Quilt winners will be chosen by a popular vote of the people viewing the quilt show, thus no judging this year, so quilts previously entered will be welcomed also. Quilts old and new, local or worldwide are welcome, so open the trunks and bring those quilts out for viewing.
Quits can be entered in the following seven categories: large quilts (king, queen and double), small quilts (twin, couch and lap), baby quilts, wall hangings, quilts made by youth, antique and scrap (requiring over 50 different fabrics).
