Eight teams and six individuals gathered at the Holyoke Swimming Pool to bike, run and swim their way through the ninth annual Melissa Memorial Hospital Foundation Amateur Triathlon Saturday, July 13.
Participants began the challenging event with a four-mile bike ride, followed with a run/walk of two miles and swimming six laps.
A.J. Brandt, Danielle Brandt and Issac Brandt nabbed the top spot in the team division, finishing in 36:39.

Finishing in second were Anna Jelden and Emily Jelden with a time of 41:03 and Kat Shafer and Tara Krueger secured third with a time of 41:14.
Other teams competing included Carol Deslauriers, Dustin Harris and Jessica Skomp, 42:12; Heather Schoenholz, Janet Tomky and Carol Cornelius, 42:23; Julie Levy, Jordan Hammerlun and Larissa Gerhartz, 42:28; Chole Einspahr, Adam Einspahr and Emilee Fish, 45:57; and Dixie Ishee, Brook Coyne and John Durbin, 46:37.
Six participants completed the triathlon individually. Nicole Brandt and Luke Thomas both competed in the adult division while Jerry Brandt, Wade Warren, Brenda Krueger and Peggi Davidson each completed the triathlon in the senior division.
Individual winners were as follows:
—Adults 19-44 age division, male: Thomas, first, 42:04.
—Adults 19-44 age division, female: Nicole Brandt, first, 54:36.
—Seniors 45-54 age division, male: Wade Warren, first, 45:00; and Jerry Brandt, second, 58:29.
—Seniors 45-54 age division, female: Brenda Krueger, first, 55:05; and Davidson, second, 58:29.

Results announced for eight-week challenge
At the completion of the triathlon, awards were given out for the eight-week challenge, which ran from April 29-June 22.
Awards were as follows:
—Team with the highest average total miles: Gettin’ Fit For Christ, First Christian Church Team with 7,286.25 miles.
—18 and below individual with the highest average miles: Tara Krueger with 1,159.15 miles.
—19-54 highest average miles: Thomas with 1,975.11 miles.
—55 and older individual with highest average miles: Betty Wickenkamp with 1,037 miles.
—Individual with the biggest weight loss “naturally”: Wickenkamp with 11 pounds.
—Team with the most cumulative BMI improvement: Linda Alberts Team for Melissa Memorial Hospital.
