I took a trip with my sister, mother and nephew to the Holyoke Cemetery Monday morning, May 27 to decorate the graves of our friends and relatives and was shocked with what I saw. The grass was uncut (about four inches tall), there were large patches of dead lawn, and the weeds in some areas outnumbered the grass.

I have always been proud of the condition the city workers kept the cemetery but was very disappointed this time. I would think the city would want the cemetery looking its best for the weekend’s celebration. I hope that this is just a temporary condition and that the former beauty of our cemetery will be restored.
