After a three-week break from competition, the Lady Dragon golf team made a triumphant return to the links, earning a first-place finish at the Thursday, April 25 home invitational.
Holyoke took the top spot with a team score of 339, edging second-place Wray by four strokes. Makayla Spitz, Alyssa Cordova and Caitlyn Kramer each posted a score of 113 for the round, tying them for a fourth-place finish on the day, along with Janell Sprague of Wray.

A scorecard playoff determined that Sprague placed fourth; Spitz, fifth; Kramer, sixth; and Cordova, seventh.
Alex McCallum competed as the fourth varsity golfer and shot a 120 in the tournament.
Burlington, Brush and Yuma also competed in the Holyoke Invitational.
Coach Garrett Gordon said the team began the day a bit rusty, but by the end of the tournament, their swings were returning to form. Being unable to practice a full round outside because of the weather affected the consistency of the team, especially within 50 yards of the green, noted Gordon.
Three Holyoke golfers competed in the nine-hole junior varsity competition. Kelsey Kramer led the pack with a round score of 69. Missy Slack shot a 72 and Kaylee Ham shot a 74 on the day.
Gordon said the girls played hard and made many improvements from the last tournament.
