|Agritourism meeting set for next Tuesday|
|Written by Holyoke Enterprise|
Tuesday, May 7 at 2 p.m. in the Peerless Theatre in Holyoke, Laura Grey, the Heritage and Agritourism Program manager for the Colorado Tourism Office, will be presenting information on agritourism and how it can be a productive part of a farm or ranch.
Agritourism is the name of the tourism sector that integrates recreational and educational farm and ranch enterprises with the travel and recreational sectors of the economy. Agritourism covers a wide variety of recreational, educational and other leisure activities and services based on a farmer or rancher’s land, physical and human resources.
By partnering with the Colorado Department of Agriculture, the CTO has initiated an Agritourism Program that will showcase Colorado agriculture roots and current opportunities on farms and ranches throughout the state.
Through this initiative, visitors to Colorado will be able to experience agriculture in a fun and educational way. With the many farms and ranches throughout northeast Colorado, agritourism could be a very viable means to attract visitors to the northeast part of the state.
For further information about the meeting, please contact Julie Worley, executive director, Phillips County Economic Development, at 854-4386. The public is invited to attend this meeting.
