Sagehorn graduates cum laude from CSU PDF Print E-mail
Written by Holyoke Enterprise

Elisa Sagehorn graduated cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in agricultural education at the Colorado State University College of Agricultural Sciences commencement ceremony in December 2012.

Sagehorn was one of 11 students in the college to graduate with academic distinction at the end of the fall 2012 semester. She was also a featured speaker at commencement.

For a time, Sagehorn attended a private Christian school in Iowa, but transferred to CSU for its agricultural education program, where she flourished as an articulate young spokeswoman for agriculture and its critical role in people’s lives.

Representing a trend of collegiate “advocacy,” Sagehorn said she has visited the Colorado State Capitol so often that she’s lost count of her visits. These opportunities have surfaced through her leadership roles with CSU Agricultural Ambassadors, Ag Adventure, Collegiate Farm Bureau and Alpha Tau Alpha and as a National Young Farmer Educational Association spokesperson for agriculture.

Sagehorn wrapped up her bachelor’s degree with a student-teaching assignment in rural Colorado.

At the end of January, Sagehorn will head to Indianapolis, Ind. for training with Elanco Animal Health. She looks forward to her new job and is anticipating new ways of spreading agriculture’s message. “Agriculture is such an integral part of our daily lives that it’s often overlooked and taken for granted,” she said, “yet it is incredibly important.”

This 2008 graduate of Holyoke High School is the daughter of Keith and Diane Sagehorn of Holyoke.
