Veteran appreciates recognition PDF Print E-mail
Written by Holyoke Enterprise

I want to show appreciation to the Enterprise and ad sponsors who were responsible for the recognition of those who have, and are, serving in the military for our country. I read every word of it and it is surprising what we learn about people we have known for many years.

These people represent many interesting stories that have never been told. Young people should be talking to their parents and grandparents to learn more about these personal histories before they are lost by time. Fewer than two million veterans from the 16 million men and women who served in World War II are still living and, as reported on national news a couple of weeks ago, are dying at the rate of 741 a day.

Don’t stop there. Many more stories are available from the veterans of Korea, Vietnam, the Middle East and other parts of the world. Printed history represents facts; people history made the printed history what it is.
