CineMagic, a fundraiser for the Peerless Theatre in Holyoke, was deemed an extreme success Saturday, Nov. 3. Members of the board of directors for Golden Plains Recreation Center (GPRC) hope to make this an annual event.
Thirteen titled tables were sold, with great participation by the purchasers to dress the part of their movie-themed table.
Those attending enjoyed hors d’oevres, followed by dinner and a sundae dessert bar. An auction of the table centerpieces, complete with valuable prizes and a lifetime supply of popcorn at the Peerless for the winning bidders, provided lively entertainment, as well.
The evening ended with lots of laughs in the performance of a melodrama, “Someone Save My Baby, Ruth! Or ... Foil that Villain!,” by the Phillips County Players.
Movie-themed tables were purchased as follows: Avengers, Abts Express; Casablanca, Jack’s Bean, LLC; Chicago, Marc and Gail Schlachter; Forrest Gump, Delmer and Eileen Moss; Gone with the Wind, Regent Park & Carriage House; Indiana Jones, Vieselmeyer Seed, Inc.; James Bond, First Pioneer National Bank; The Legend of Bagger Vance, assigned; Pirates of the Caribbean, Grainland Cooperative; South Pacific, Rich and Gail Hielscher; True Grit, Margie Jeffers; Wild Hogs, Holyoke Marketplace; and Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, Reimer family. A sample of the table crews are pictured below in Enterprise photos.
