Regent Park Nursing Home and Assisted Living has just welcomed Patsy Schutz to its staff as the new administrator.

Better weather conditions and higher corn prices have led to the second-largest crop in U.S. history, according to the National Corn Growers Association. Area cooperative representatives said they plan to finish up with harvest in the next week or two.

Oct. 31, 2002

Bone-dry weather plagued dryland farmers with this year’s summer drought, and the recent unseasonably wet weather the area has been receiving continues to delay this year’s corn harvest.

Norm Duell has been appointed as Sedgwick and Phillips counties’ representative for American National Insurance Company.

Laura Roll was recently hired as a full-time staff member for Baby’s First Steps to serve the Phillips County area.

Nov. 5, 1987

Jerry Young recently moved to this area to serve as pastor of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Holyoke, Christ the King Catholic Church in Haxtun and St. Peter’s, located south of Fleming.

Milan Mares and Thomas Gruninger, both of Frankfurt, West Germany, passed through Holyoke Oct. 26 on their bicycle tour across the United States.

The Phillips County Chapter of the American Diabetic Association, named the Co-Neb Chapter, was chartered in Holyoke on Oct. 26.

Nov. 2, 1972

Holyoke residents awakened yesterday morning to find the ground covered with about 10 inches of snow. The snow started falling Tuesday night and was still falling at the time the Enterprise was printed.

Checks totaling $520,353 were mailed Wednesday to sugar beet growers of the Sterling factory district of the Great Western Sugar Company for the final payment for the 1971 crop.

The political awareness class at HHS is sponsoring free baby-sitting and taxi service on election day for anyone who needs the service.

Nov. 1, 1962

Holyoke Discount Day, a new trade promotion activity sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce, will be initiated Saturday, Nov. 3. Thirty-six local businesses are participating in this week’s event.

The adult education program at Holyoke High School now includes a “do-it-yourself” reading program designed to increase reading speed and comprehension.
