A 0-15 loss to Strasburg in regional softball tournament action Saturday, Oct. 13 ended the Lady Dragon season with an 8-10 record.

The Dragons faced tough opposition against Strasburg, and the Indians were able to take advantage of even the smallest missteps made by the Dragons, said coach Ashley Clayton.

“There is a strong core of returning players that will remember how this loss feels and will use it to drive the hard work they do in the offseason,” said Clayton.

She commended the local team. “The young and inexperienced Dragons have come far this season and have great things to look forward to in future seasons.”

“It is always tough for the seniors to end their season on anything but a high note,” said Clayton. “However, they have worked hard to guide this team all year long, and for that, they should be very proud of themselves.”

In a tribute to the seniors who played their last softball season for the Dragons, coach Clayton acknowledged, “it is a bittersweet moment to let them go, as you know they are moving on to bigger and better things in life. However, they are all irreplaceable as unique young women and the things they bring to the team.”

Holyoke 0, Strasburg 15

Neither team crossed home plate in the first inning of action Saturday, but the Indians made up for it in the second, scoring a whopping 12 runs.

Strasburg added two more in the third and one in the fourth to finish the game in four innings.

Keeya Marquez had the lone hit for the Dragons. Alyssa Killin took the loss on the mound, facing 29 batters, allowing 14 hits, striking out one and walking one.
