|Volleyball girls all set for '12 season|

Fall is in the air, and that means it’s time for Holyoke High School girls to get the ball rolling for their 2012 volleyball season. Twenty-four girls are pumped to kick off the year with their first game Tuesday, Sept. 4 in Merino.
Coaches Michelle Vieselmeyer and Theresa Tharp said they have a tall team this year with a lot of potential, and they are setting their goals high to go far this season.
Returning letterwinners on the HHS volleyball team are seniors Molly Brandt, Lindsay Helgoth and Erin Vieselmeyer as well as junior Maddie King.
They have a lot of great senior leadership, said Vieselmeyer and Tharp, and the whole team has had a really positive attitude so far.
Also on the team are senior Gabriela Chavez; juniors Tia Huffman, Ashley Humphreys, Jacinda Krueger, Malena McWilliams, Audi Peña and Eva Penzing; sophomores Jentry Andersen, Anastasia Conklin, Kaylee Ham, Alexandria McCallum, Rosa Ochoa, Lynnette Stark and Megan Vieselmeyer; and freshmen Adilene Bencomo, Peyton Dittmer, Jaylene Dominguez, Lori McWilliams, Megan Parker and Kaely Zilla.

Serving as student managers are Rachel Schneider and Kanyon Moore.
Vieselmeyer moved up as this year’s head coach after serving as assistant volleyball coach in the 2011 season. She played volleyball at Northeastern Junior College.
Assistant coach Tharp has coached junior high volleyball for around 20 years, with 12 of those at Holyoke Junior High. She also played during college at CSU-Pueblo.
Home games scheduled for this fall include Wray on Sept. 15, Caliche Sept. 29, Yuma Oct. 5, Burlington Oct. 13 and Wiggins Oct. 19.
Away games will be played at Merino Sept. 4, Grant, Neb. Sept. 7, Fort Morgan varsity tournament Sept. 8, Imperial, Neb. Sept. 11, Peetz Sept. 18, Ovid Sept. 25, Akron Sept. 27, St. Francis, Kan. Oct. 6 and Haxtun Oct. 18.
Districts are set for Oct. 23 and 27 followed by regionals Nov. 3. The ultimate goal, Colorado volleyball state championships, are Nov. 9-10 in Denver.
