|Border League All Stars win state tournament|

Border League All-Stars captured the state championship Monday, July 23 after a 10-5 victory over East Central. The tournament was held in McClave.
Three Holyoke players are on the team which will now head to the regional tournament in Lamar Aug. 3-8.
The Border League All-Star 13-14 team is made up of players from Holyoke, Haxtun, Sedgwick County and Chappell, Neb.
Brendan Mayden, Taylor Mayden and Gunnar Kroeger are the three Holyoke players on the team.
Others include Bryce Bivins, Caleb Anderson and Darian Wilkening from Haxtun; Tyler Woodhams, Chance Dunker, Cole McKinley and Trey Walters from Sedgwick County; and Maverick Widowson and Cody Simmons of Chappell.
Coaches for the team are Scott Heath and Kyle Pocock from Sedgwick County.
Border League began the tournament with a dominating 23-0 win over Centennial Friday, July 20.
Saturday, the team faced Lamar and won 14-6. Sunday, July 22, Border League eeked out a close 9-8 victory over East Central to advance to Monday’s championship.
Heading into the championship, Border League only had to beat East Central one time while they had to be beaten twice because they entered the game undefeated. It only took one game as Border League grabbed a nice 10-5 win and lifted the championship hardware.
The winner of the regional tournament in Lamar will head to the Babe Ruth World Series in Murray, Utah Aug. 18-25.
