It was beautiful weather Sunday, July 15 for “An Old-Fashioned Day at the Park” at Phillips County Fairgrounds in Holyoke. A special ceremony, with ribbon-cutter Blye McCallum, dedicated Homesteaders Park’s new additions including a handicap accessible playground, turf field and nine-hole disc golf course.

Commissioners Joe Kinnie, Bud Biesemeier and Jerry Beavers and former commissioner Susan Roll Walters noted how excited they are that the park and enhancement project complete the Event Center built at the fairgrounds a few years ago. Project organizers Brooke Dirks, Shannon Schlachter, Michelle Vieselmeyer and Andrea McCallum said they hope to see their kids and grandkids playing at this park for many years to come.
