Holyoke Volunteer Fire Department held its 3rd annual Family Fun Day Wednesday, July 4 at Homesteaders Park. As the temperature crept up to triple digits, kids and their families took to the park for a chance to cool off. A large slip-n-slide was a main attraction as kids took multiple turns going down. There was lawn bowling as well as keg water fights. Above, Ty Bergstrom, in front, races a buddy down the slip-n-slide.
Jimena Nuñez and Tamara Penzing race each other down the hill on the slip-n-slide last week.

Kids gobbled up every drop of water they could last week during HVFD’s Family Fun Day.
Firefighter Lance Williams shoots a stream of water on eager kids last week. Cool water was the medicine of the day as temperatures hovered around 100.
Root beer floats were a nice treat for those at Family Fun Day. HVFD also served pie and ice cream to satisfy everyone’s sweet tooth. Pictured from left are Jesus Trejo, Brian Garcia-Rios and Luis Chafino.
