Friday night, May 18, the DIRTcar Colorado Limited Late Models will be heading back to Phillips County Raceway for the first time since it has received its new racing surface.
Fan Appreciation Night at PCR will be full of fun for kids who will receive flags that can be autographed by drivers in front of the shoots at intermission. Races are scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m.
The night will feature round two of the championship for IMCA main events in modifieds, sport mods, stocks and hobbies.
It will also be the first time the DIRTcar Colorado Limited Late Models have been to the track with their new rules package. Two weeks ago the class raced at I-76 Speedway and the cars were faster than ever and had the best car count for the late model class in years.
With the new surface and the new rules, the late models will be the fastest cars that will be seen at PCR all season.
This will be the second of 12 late model races that will be run at I-76 and PCR in 2012. This is the first of three weekends in 2012 the late models will run back-to-back nights at PCR and I-76 Speedway. The other two will be June 15-16 and Aug. 24-25.
Between 15-20 late models are expected to show up at the first few races this season and DIRTcar hopes to build on that throughout the year.
