No one could take life too seriously Thursday night as knock knock knee-slappers, silly songs and whacky words kept audience members rolling in the aisles at the “Lighten Up” music program.
Holyoke first- and third-graders as well as director Marcia Dalton took the stage April 19, and everyone was all smiles.
They kicked off the concert with songs “Lighten Up” and the first grade’s “Funny Face,” featuring, of course, funny faces!
The Crocodile Guy Skit was introduced with a clever theme using boomwhackers. The instruments also accompanied “Whacky Song” and “Whacky Cha Cha.”
Special guest celebrities Phlegis (Austin Killin) and Asparagus Spears (Jordan Zeiler) graced the stage for “Who Wants to be a Really Rich Person” skit.
The variety show continued with knock knock jokes and the hilarious “Saddle Sore” song with a first-grade group.
Tantalizing tongue twisters had everyone a little tongue tied in “That’s Easy for You to Say.” A unique twist on yodeling brought out more giggles by a third-grade group in “Yodelady.”
“Words of Wisdom” and “This Show is Over” kept the laughs coming.
The spring program wouldn’t be quite complete without some audience participation. First- and third-graders each grabbed a partner and everyone was up on their feet for the traditional “Mack Chicken Dance Medley.”
